For the past two decades, 2020 has been set as the target for achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and it seemed achievable. As it turns out, with all that has happened, this year has been a new stage for awareness raising and mobilisation to achieve sustainability at all levels.
And it seems that the year will be 2021, and in all senses of the word. But as all beginnings are always an opportunity, we wanted to take advantage of 2020 to stop and think about how we wanted change and create a purpose for action to make things happen.
That's why, as 2020 comes to an end, Los18 is launching the Blog and website to open a new chapter that will spread the word about the SDGs and help set sail our ship from 2021 onwards.
Who are Los18?
To get to know us a little better, we are a citizens' initiative that was born in the summer of 2016. We are not for profit, but we do want to make an impact to make the world a better place. We believe that Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability are possible if we implement concrete actions. For this reason, one of our main challenges is to connect citizens with companies, the third sector and public administration. Only if we work together can we achieve this. Moreover, we believe that an independent and neutral actor can be the lever that activates and unites the different sensitivities.
Diversity is fundamental to achieve equality, the European Commission has specific programmes to promote it and in the Los18.org team we try to lead by example. We are women and men between 19 and 53 years old, of different nationalities, cultures, professions, sexual orientation, with and without disabilities. This diversity is what is allowing us to innovate, every day new ideas, actions and relationships are set in motion.
Do you want to know what our main goals are for 2021?
To strengthen internationalisation, reinforcing alliances with other countries with which we are already working.
To make the ship set sail, in March the Scale 0 will take place on board the Cervantes Saavedra.
New hackatODS, known as hackathons, always with the aim of working towards the SDGs.
From now on, we will be posting periodically every month. And if you want to know more about us or become a helmsman, you can write us an email or through our social networks, and we will contact you.
